Joakim Noah made the move from the second city to the first this offseason, and he’s gotten himself a swanky new apartment to celebrate. Noah, who signed a $72 million deal with the New York Knicks in the offseason, recently bought a 2,297-square-foot penthouse in Chelsea for $5.8 million.

A fingerprint scan opens the thoroughly modern three-bedroom’s front door, revealing an open great room with walnut floors, a wall fireplace surrounded by built-in shelves and a unique, trumpet-inspired light fixture above the dining area. The kitchen includes top-of-the-line appliances from the likes of Viking, Miele and Bosch.

Among the other luxurious amenities is a 2,000-square-foot terrace with views of the Hudson River as well as a hot tub, self-watering planters, a built-in barbecue and a surround sound system.

The master bedroom has plenty of room for a desk and a separate seating area and opens to a pink-tiled bathroom with mirrored walls and glass shelves.

Other amenities in the building include a shared lounge, a garage, a health club, a sundeck with reflecting pool and 360 square feet of storage space.

Noah, whose father Yannick was the No. 3 tennis player in the world in the early ‘80s, was born in New York, attending United Nations International and Poly Prep Country Day School in the city during his high school years. Yannick recently told the New York Post that the return to New York was a dream come true for his shooting guard son.

“We used to go to the Garden when he was a kid, watching games, watching Patrick [Ewing] play. To know that he’s going to play in the Garden, we feel so blessed. He’s preparing hard. He has a lot of hope and he can’t wait. And I’ll be there.”
