Industrial designer Valerio Sommella has paired with Moooi Carpets to create an all-new rug collection.

The new line boasts six pieces with an unusual aesthetic that blends traditional patterning mixed with contemporary printing technology. The project started as a way to experiment with and expand upon the Dutch brand’s high-tech capabilities.

Sommella was able to utilize that tech to try to mimic the experience of walking on soft, plush surfaces. He also made sure to work with a variety of patterns and images to find the perfect look. Many of the images are drawn from antiquarian sources and sport a fiber density of 500,000 per square meter.

Printed with a resolution of 76 dpi, buyers are guaranteed a unique new addition to their home or creative office space.
