Barcelona Design has just unveiled a brand new piece that takes inspiration from one of the greatest artists of all time. The “Invisible Personage” armchair is just the latest of their furniture offerings designed to depict a portion of a Dalí painting.
The furniture and textile brand has a history of crafting unique pieces based on Dalí’s work, starting with the Leda chair and table in 1991, inspired by the painting “Femme à la tête rose.”
But the company’s connection to the surrealist artist goes back to the late 1960s when the brand’s co-founder Oscar Tusquets Blanca became friends with Dalí. After a long and fruitful friendship, Tusquets was named a life patron of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation.
All of these designs are created in conjunction with the Dalí Foundation, which offers final approval and ensures the quality of the work. “The surreal effect of these works lie, as the name suggests, in the depiction of the footprints of a character that has never been portrayed,” said Tusquets.
The new chair is limited to 20 pieces and features Tibetan sheep shearling for the exterior and ram skin shearling for the tread.
