Fans of Jaguars and beautiful timepieces now have a watch that pays homage to both of those passions.

Luxury British watchmaker Christopher Ward has created the limited-edition Christopher Ward C9 D-Type watch. The new piece honors the Jaguar D-Type vehicles that won the Le Mans race in 1955, 1956, and 1957.

The time-telling creation offers wearers the opportunity to own a piece of motorsports history, and the ability to do so in style. Christopher Ward actually sourced metal from the race-winning cars to use in the watches’ construction.

But the racing references don’t end there. Racing fans will enjoy a dial design based on the Jaguar D-Type’s speedometer, and the fact that the 12 o’clock marker is circled will remind wearers of the numbers painted on Le Mans cars.

Additional racing-inspired accents include a power reserve indicator that looks a lot like a fuel gauge and a piece of the car’s 3.4-liter piston that’s been laser-cut into the likeness of a D-Type wheel alloy.

The sporty timepiece boasts a Swiss ETA Valgranges A07.161 automatic movement that runs at 4Hz (28,800bph) inside its Christopher Ward C9 D-Type’s 43mm-wide, 98.4-foot, water-resistant, polished steel case. It also has a 46-hour power reserve.

Limited to just 55 number pieces—in a final nod to the 1955 Le Mans win—the Christopher Ward C9 D-Type watch sports a peccary black leather strap and a $3,872.48 price tag.
