The mechanical thermometer seen on some of Ball’s timepieces is now on display in the new Ball for BMW TMT Chronometer.
Ball’s new creation boasts their Temperature Measurement technology (TMT) that is in reference to a proprietary module that’s been added to the ETA 2892 automatic movement, which is dubbed the BALL RR1601-C.
The system uses a “spiral bimetallic thermometer” that’s supposed to be more accurate than other watch thermometers and is able to measure the environment’s temperature from –31°F to 113°F with an accuracy of 97 percent.
Additional features include an anti-reflective sapphire crystal front, a sapphire caseback, and the brand’s patented anti-shock “Amortiser” system. It even features 14 glowing titanium tubes, which is pretty standard of a Ball’s superior craftsmanship.
Limited to just 1,000 pieces, the Ball for BMW TMT Chronometer sports a black DLC coating, 328 feet of water resistance, and a latex strap. It’s now available for preorder until the end of August, and buyers can also choose whether or not they’d like the BMW logo on their timepiece. Even better, fans of the new timepiece can save nearly 50 percent off the future price on the limited-edition Ball with an early preorder option of $1,999.
