Fans of classic Jaguar vehicles have a lot to celebrate. The luxury British car manufacturer has just announced that its highly anticipated Jaguar XKSS reproduction will make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November.

The new model will actually be a replica of the ultra-popular 1957 version, and Jaguar experts plan to manufacture the car to the exact same specifications as the original. While only nine examples will be created, the remake of what many consider the world’s first supercar is sure to get plenty of attention.

Jaguar’s XKSS was first developed as a road-going version of the Le Mans-winning “D-Type” back in 1957. However, after production, many of those marked for export to the US were destroyed in a fire. The building of these select new vehicles can be considered as an attempt to replace the nine “lost” XKSS models that have long eluded collectors.

The design of the new XKSS will be undertaken by the Jaguar Classic Team, who will surely utilize the same skill and dedicated craftsmanship that went into the continuation model of the lightweight e-type in 2015.

“The continuation XKSS reaffirms our commitment to nurture the passion and enthusiasm for jaguar’s illustrious past by offering exceptional cars, services, parts and experiences,” said Tim Hannig, director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic.
