Aston Martin has wowed the industry again with a special model to honor Britain’s aviation history and particularly the famed Supermarine Spitfire the Royal Air Force and other allied countries used to help beat back the axis powers in World War II.

Named the V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80, Aston Martin will only produce 80 examples of the limited edition Vantage to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Spitfire.

Interestingly, the Vantage S Spitfire 80 features a V12 engine just like the one-seat Spitfire fighter plane used, with the newer motor pumping out 565 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque.

These special edition Vantages will be hand-built by Aston and sold at its Cambridge dealership, which was the home of another of Aston Martin’s bespoke aviation-themed tributes, the V8 Vantage S “Blades Edition.”

Each of the 80 Vantage S Spitfire models will feature a finish in Duxford’s special green color with yellow pinstripes to ward off any of the models made by former foreign invaders. The interiors of the special Spitfire Vantages will undergo a special treatment from the Q by Aston Martin department, meaning there will be some one-of-a-kind parts and special embroidery throughout the cabin.

The V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80 boasts a price tag just under $240,000.
