Hollywood writer and actor Bob Newhart has finally sold his 1.37-acre Los Angeles-area estate for $14.5 million after a three-year cycle of the home going on and off the market.
The 1941-built, 9,169-square-foot French Country-style house has five bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and two half baths located in the heart of the East Gate section of Bel-Air.
The mansion also features a modern kitchen and tiled breakfast room, a formal living room with vaulted ceilings and a fireplace, a family room with a wet bar and direct access to a loggia through glass sliding doors.
There are also multiple red brick and flagstone patios in the backyard, a boulder-lined swimming pool and spa, and an al fresco poolside cabana that boasts a pair of bathrooms and a guest apartment. There is also a suite of offices on top of the two-car garage.
Newhart has won Grammy, Golden Globe, and Emmy trophies in his career and now in his 80s was probably looking to downsize. He made over $10 million on the sale of his Bel-Air home after purchasing the property in 1990 for $4.2 million.
