Move over Siri, Cortana, and Echo, Samsung has just introduced its new personal assistant robot prototype, Otto. The tech company unveiled the new device at their developer conference in San Francisco and used Otto to put Samsung’s ARTIK platform on display.

Designed to one day help users control their smart homes, the bot can answer questions, relay the news, play music, and respond to voice commands for connected devices like thermostats and lights.

Although similar to Amazon’s Echo, which features a microphone that’s always on, Otto has a digital “face” housing an HD camera that can function as a security camera or as a monitoring device for a pet at home.

Most interesting is that Otto moves its head and makes almost human-like gestures with various facial expressions. Additionally, it has facial recognition technology to help remember user’s individual preferences.

Otto is still in the prototype stage, but its features are just a glimpse of future gadgets to come.
