Along with the raving success of the Model 3 launch, Tesla has also given its 2017 Model S a fresh, which is the first traditional update made by the American company since it released the sedan in 2013.
The Model S has earned a new face, new features, an extended range, and of course, new pricing.
To start, the Model S has a new front end, including a smaller grill and newly designed full adaptive LED headlights that actually follow the path of the steering wheel to help drivers see around corners better. On the inside, the new options include two new choices of wood trim: Figured Ash Wood and Dark Ash Wood.
On top of upgrading the charger from a 40 to a 48-amp system to ensure quicker charging, the S now also offers a Bioweapon Defense Mode with HEPA air filtration, which is a carry-over from the Model X. This $3,000 optional air filtration system is designed to remove 99.97 percent of particulate exhaust pollution along with allergens, bacteria, and other contaminants from the air.
The 90D model’s range went up from 253 miles to 270 miles, while the P90D got a bump from 270 miles to 294 miles.
The Model S 70 starts the lineup off with a price of $72,200, while the top-of-the-range Model S P90D has a starting price of $110,700. A P100D model is rumored to be in the works, but nothing’s official yet.
