The eighth generation of the Kindle is finally here, and it has not disappointed eBook fans as the Oasis is slimmer, lighter, and more impressive than any of its predecessors.
The Oasis has 10 LEDs, four more than the Kindle Voyage, to create the brightest eBook experience for its owners. The new model also maintains its 300 pixles per inch resolution and comes in the same 6-inch screen size, despite the Oasis appearing to be more square in design than the other Kindle editions.
One of the coolest new features the Oasis boasts is its magnetically attached leather case, which when plugged in charges both the case and the Kindle at the same time. While out and about the case will use up its stored battery life before the Oasis taps into its own internal one. So once all said and done, the Oasis has a battery life of up to eight weeks or up to 20 months of standby time. The case comes in color options of brown, red, and black
The Oasis also has a built-in accelerometer, which allows the device to recognize which hand the reader is being held in and allows it to automatically rotate the page and match the page-turn buttons to the correct area of the screen.
These improvements have led it to be the most expensive Kindle to date, with the Oasis fetching a $290 starting price on Amazon. It will come in both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi and Free 3G options and is currently available for pre-order with deliveries starting April 27.
