Elon Musk is probably pretty happy about the recent Model 3 release. Tesla received 325,000 orders in the first week of bookings for the new, more accessible model.

What is the result for Tesla? That would be a total of $14 billion in future Model 3 sales.

The Model 3 has a base price of $35,000, with an average price of $42,000, which is a major price drop from the Model S. In fact, it’s half the MSRP price of the $71,200 Tesla Model S and less than half the cost of the Model X, which starts at $81,200.

Interested parties needed to pay a $1,000 refundable deposit and register to pre-order a Model 3, which Tesla reports will have a range of “at least 215 miles.”

On top of being one of the first affordable all-electric, sports-styled sedans, Musk expects the Model 3 to earn a five-star safety rating in every category. The American company also expects the Model 3 to be able go from 0-to-60 mph in less than six seconds, with later examples of the vehicle likely to be faster with each passing year.

During the presentation for the unveiling of the Model 3, Musk claimed the newest Tesla is expected to be delivered in 2017.
