Designer Luca Nichetto has just expanded his collaboration with De La Espada with the unveiling of five new furniture designs. The new collection debuted at the Festival of Design in Shanghai earlier this month and wowed with mid-century inspiration.

Calling back to American furniture from the 1950s, the new line might be inspired from the past, but it’s been given a facelift to meet modern tastes.

The Marlon table is a perfect example of the blend between old and new with a solid hardwood or marble table top supported by marble legs. This isn’t a sleek minimalist piece, but rather a sturdy and luxurious item built for versatility and durability.

Nichetto’s Stella armchair continues the collection with a blend of fiberglass and more contemporary materials. The fiberglass shell holds an upholstered seat and backrest, all of which is supported by strong wooden legs.

Next, the Kim is part of a set of nesting tables that work alone or as a set with shared materials and bold wooden surfaces. When combined they appear to create a bold centerpiece to any room.

Although the Elysia lounge chair was the first piece created for the collaboration, the new Nino ottoman adds plenty of flair with a solid wood skeleton that shows off its superior craftsmanship.

Last, but certainly not least, the Steve poufs are a quirky throwback to a bygone era with short cast iron legs and bold upholstery.
