When it comes to e-bicycles, most of the design concepts are pretty safe and conservative. This is not a label that can be placed on TºRed Bikes’ BestiaNera Sport designed by Romolo Stanco, which actually still weighs in as one of the lightest e-bikes in the world at only 21.6 pounds.
The track-inspired BestiaNera, Italian for “BugBear,” has a strange figure with handlebars that ends in horns. The BestiaNera’s frame is made up of monocoque carbon fiber, a tri-bladded front wheel, and a carbon disc-covered rear wheel. The back wheel also holds the 30V/160-Wh lithium-ion battery pack and 250-watt motor that boosts power of the owner’s pedaling.
The TºRed bike is readily paired with an available smartphone app that helps decide the amount of assistance the electric motor gives, and, managed correctly, the BestiaNera’s battery has a range of 19 miles per charge. This charge and range is increased due to a regenerative braking system that helps boost the range.
TºRed offers the BestiaNera for just under $11,000. The Italian company also has a Sport model, a lower-priced Urban model, and a non-electric track version of the bike.
