HTC and Under Armour took advantage of CES to show off their new HealthBox fitness system, a way to completely monitor the most important facets of health and fitness.
A joint venture between the athletic performance brand and the Taiwanese electronics company, HealthBox features a fitness band, heart rate monitor, smart scale, and a pairable app to monitor its owner’s activity, sleep, and nutrition.
The UA Band, designed to be worn 24/7, tracks activity, workouts, and sleep. The outer shell of the band protects the display and allows it to disappear when not in use. There is also a function which keeps the display lit while working out while the LED area points out a target heart rate zone when paired up with the UA Heart Rate sensor.
The UA Heart Rate sensor is specially designed to be invisible while working out and is attached to a chest strap. With the heart rate monitor the HealthBox owners can get a much more accurate calculation of the calories they burn while working out and achieve a target heart rate when paired to the app.
Finally, the UA Scale is wi-fi enabled and displays weight and body fat percentage. The new scale is built to support up to eight different users and syncs with the app to complete a user’s health and fitness profile.
