Los Angeles-based designer James Perse has just purchased a magnificent Malibu, California, home for $12.5 million. The furniture and clothing creator acquired the Hamptons-style mansion on Point Dume from seller and classic car collector Irving Willems.

Set on 1.02 acres and built in the late 1950s, the home was completely rebuilt in 2005 and sports 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. Spanning 3,962-square-feet, the property holds a solar-heated swimming pool and spa, an al fresco cabana, and a separate one-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse. Other outdoor amenities include a built-in grilling station, a fireplace, and a tennis court.

Inside, dark hardwood floors stun amidst white walls, vaulted ceilings, and a white brick fireplace. An open living and dining space gives way to a spacious kitchen with an expansive center island with an integrated snack kitchen.

Manicured with modern styling and chic accents, it’s no wonder James Perse picked this L.A. retreat. Perse and his wife also own a 26-acre equestrian compound near Thousand Oaks.
