Few luxury furniture pieces feature a high-end look and an other-worldly aesthetic. Yet, the genuine DC-9 Pratt & Whitney JT8D engine cowling that’s been converted into a chair fits both those categories.

The unique leather chair is crafted from one of the 976 DC-9 twin-engine jetliners popular between 1965 and 1982. Known for serving operators until 2014, the reliable machine now does double duty as a functional piece of art.

Although the engine cowling was removed, artists polished the aluminum to a modern, glossy finish befit of a luxurious living room. Additionally, a removable seat and back cushions were upholstered in high-end black leather to give the piece a classic look.

The ultra-rare seat is priced at $8,500 and features stitching reminiscent of rotor blades spun inside an engine. You can get one at the Boeing Store.
