Late German toy maker Horst Brandstätter’s home has a new owner. Billionaire John Malone purchased the Florida home for a $38 million. With 9 acres, a guesthouse, and beach house, John Malone will surely be comfortable.
The 8,400-square-foot main house has three bedrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, a pool, and a boat dock. The two-bedroom beach house comes complete with an office, kitchen, and sweeping views of both the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.
Although Brandstätter lived primarily in Germany, he spent his winters on Jupiter Island in Florida to relax and golf.
One of the unique features of the property is that the living room is set on a turntable so it can rotate 360 degrees for expansive Atlantic views. The property also has a par-3 course, putting green, and a separate golf cart garage.
Malone served as CEO of Tele-Communications Inc. from 1973 to 1996. He saved the company from bankruptcy and by 1981 TCI was the largest cable provider in the U.S. In 2014, Malone attempted a $62.4 billion takeover of Time Warner Cable but the bid ultimately failed. His net worth is estimated at $11.5 billion.
