Former Lehman Brothers CEO to Auction Off His Idaho Estate

Former Lehman Brothers CEO Richard Fuld is planning to auction off his 71-acre Idaho property on August 19. The large estate is set in Sun Valley and is expected to sell for $30 million to $50 million, which would make it the most expensive home auction in US history.

The 11-bedroom, 10.5-bath estate is surrounded by Bald Mountain on one side and the Big Wood River on the other. Unlike many other mountain properties, Fuld’s home is both in nature and near towns and resorts. New owners will have views of the local ski slopes from their property as well as the mountain landscape.

The main home spans 9,200 square feet and features en-suite bathrooms and American Chestnut floors. With cedar-plank ceilings in the living room and a large stone fireplace in the family room, there’s plenty of room for entertainment. The three-bedroom guesthouse has en-suite bathrooms, a two-car garage, a kitchen and a wraparound porch complete with lake views.

Fuld’s massive estate might very well set a record—if not for the most expensive home auction, then for its beauty and architecture.
