Jaguar has revealed the 2016 editions of their XJ flagship vehicles. The line adds two new versions customers can choose from, the XJR-Sport and XJ Autobiography. Both updated versions feature a focus on upgraded infotainment systems and driver assist functions.
The entire 2016 line is comprised of the XJ Portfolio, XJ Luxury, XJ Premium Luxury and the all-new XJ Autobiography and XJR-Sport. Overall, the aesthetic of the line is similar to its predecessor with mature, classic styling. The 2016s feature larger, upright grilles and sculpted chrome blades on the outboard air intakes. New LED headlamps with a color closer to daylight make the new vehicles even better for night driving.
The InControl Touch Pro infotainment systems offer drivers several connectivity options through various smartphone apps, which can allow users to remotely lock or unlock the car, check fuel levels, receive notifications if the car alarms go off and pre-set cabin temperatures with the remote-start engine capabilities. The new entertainment system connects to both iOS and Android to deliver Wi-Fi hotspots for up to eight devices. Controlled from a customizable 8-inch touchscreen, music is delivered from the 17-channel, 16-speaker 1,300W Meridian Digital Reference audio system.
Jaguar’s driver assist features also received a major upgrade with features like the All-Surface Progress Control which works as a low-speed cruise control for ice and snow by adjusting the brake and throttle for easier user navigation. The new forward-facing camera uses Traffic Sign Recognition to read speed limits and temporary signs. Other advanced features include Closing Vehicle Sensing to detect vehicles changing lanes and Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist to manage a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Semi-autonomous park-assist is also included in the new XJ, which can maneuver the vehicle in tandem with the driver for a better parking experience.
Of course, the 2016 Jaguar line still maintains a lot of power under the hood with a wide array of powertrain options. Drivers can opt for a 240 bhp, two-liter, four-cylinder engine; a three-liter V6 rear-wheel/all-wheel drive version; or 470, 510 and 550 bhp five-liter V8 gas engines. With the classic sophistication of Jaguar styling and all-new technologies, the 2016 fleet is sure to be a success.
The 2016 Jaguar XJ will be available later this year starting at $75,000.
