The Land Rover Defender has been with us for 68 years. Now that production of the iconic vehicle is ending in the UK, Land Rover is ensuring that the Defender goes out in style.
“As UK production of the current Defender enters its final phase, Land Rover will use 2015 to celebrate its global automotive icon,” the auto company said in a press release.
Land Rover is honoring the Defender by releasing three new Defenders. The Celebration Series Defenders each represent a different part of the Defender’s history according to the company.
The Heritage represents the classic Defender. The vehicle has a retro theme and is painted in Grasmere Green with a white roof. The grille, headlights, wheels, bumper, and mud flaps are all designed to give the vehicle a retro feel. Only 400 Heritage Edition Defenders will be built with each costing around $42,045.
The Autobiography Edition represents the luxury of Land Rover with its Windsor leather interior and pieces made from aluminum and alloy. The Autobiography is limited to just 80 units and it has a price tag starting at $93,536.
Last is the Defender Adventure. The Adventure is the median priced of the series, starting at around $65,783. As the name suggests, the Adventure celebrates Land Rover’s rugged and off-roading past. It is available in three colors (orange, white, gray).
All three models will go on sale in August.
