Roland Iten is an artisan when it comes to belt buckles. While not something you usually consider a luxury item, Iten takes the same approach to crafting belt buckles that expert jewelers do in crafting rings and watchmakers when creating luxury timepieces. His latest creation is the Calibre R822 Predator buckle.
“Once the wearer inserts the end of the leather strap in the buckle,” Iten said, “the double ardillion tang engages effortlessly with the holes in the strap… Operating the Calibre R822 buckle is a veritable tactile pleasure, and it offers a simple, one-handed adjustment for two positions – looser, for driving or sitting, and tighter, for walking or playing sport.”
The Calibre R822 Predator has 167 components and 387 round-cut diamonds and baguette for 14.15 carats. What is not made up of diamonds and baguette is crafted from high-quality titanium.
Iten will only craft three of the Calibre R822 Predator belt buckles, and will sell each of them for $400,000 a piece.
