Ten years ago TAG Heuer unveiled an innovative concept watch.  The concept showed a watch that used belt drives, linear mass, and ball bearings to power it along.  Five years ago that watch was mass produced and hit the market.  The $100,000 watch was a landmark in watchmaking.  To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the concept, TAG Heuer will be unveiling the TAG Heuer Monaco V4 at the 2014 Basel World Show.

The  TAG Heuer Monaco V4 will also make history by featuring the world’s first micro-belt driven one-minute tourbillon.  Other than that the watch is similar to its previous versions.  It features four barrels mounted on a V-shaped main plate inspired by the engine blocks in cars.  The whole thing is encased in black titanium and sapphire.

There is still no word on whether or not The  TAG Heuer Monaco V4 will be widely available.  Rumor has it that the watch will cost around $169,600 and will be available for purchase by the end of the year.
