BMW is revving up its compact sports coupe with the reveal of the 2025 BMW M2. This new iteration of the driver-focused performance car adds more power, fresh styling, and new tech features to an already thrilling package.

Under the hood, the high-revving inline 6-cylinder engine now produces 473 hp, up from the previous generation’s 453 hp. This allows the new M2 to rocket from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds with the standard 6-speed manual transmission or 3.9 seconds with the optional 8-speed automatic. The top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

BMW has a long history with inline 6-cylinder engines dating back to the 1930s. This heritage continues in the new M2, where the smooth power delivery and appetite for high rpm creates an intoxicating performance experience. The engine utilizes M TwinPower Turbo technology along with motorsport-inspired details like a closed-deck design and wire-arc cylinder coating.

On the outside, the M2 receives several styling tweaks. There are three new standard exterior colors as well as expanded options for metallic paints and BMW Individual finishes. The M2 badge is now black with silver trim, matching the new black quad exhaust tips. The alloy wheels also have new designs and color choices.

Inside, the cockpit has been updated with the latest tech. A curved digital display incorporates a 12.3″ instrument panel and 14.9″ touchscreen running BMW’s new iDrive 8.5 infotainment system. The climate controls are also now digital. New steering wheel designs and leather seat options further enhance the interior ambiance.

BMW’s famed M division has been creating performance versions of their regular models since the late 1970s. The M2 continues this tradition, distilling the brand’s motorsport know-how into a compact, engaging driver’s car. With a manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive, and perfect 50/50 weight distribution, the M2 harkens back to the pure sports coupes of yesteryear.

The new 2025 BMW M2 goes on sale worldwide in August 2024, with a starting MSRP of $64,900. Driving enthusiasts can expect this latest M2 to build on the model’s award-winning formula of power, agility and everyday usability.
