Crisp handling, potent engines like the silky inline-6, and available xDrive AWD made it an instant hit.

Sales expanded with the 2009 second generation, which brought higher luxury and the latest BMW styling. By 2012, the Spartanburg, SC plant was exporting X3s globally. The third generation launched in 2017 pushed the technology envelope further with comprehensive driver assists, gestural controls, and remote services.
