The grandeur of the Bugatti marque echoes through the annals of automotive history, conjuring visions of unbridled power encased in artisanal elegance. From the Type 35 racer that dominated circuits in the 1920s, to the flowing Type 57 Atlantic coupe of the 1930s, Bugatti has continually redefined the pinnacle of the possible.

The brand’s latest creation, the Tourbillon, intertwines past and future, blending old-world craftsmanship with cutting-edge hybrid technology. The Tourbillon moniker derives from the world of haute horlogerie, denoting a mechanism that counters the effects of gravity in fine timepieces. This nod to Bugatti’s heritage in Molsheim telegraphs the hypercar’s ambition: to achieve timeless perfection.

At the Tourbillon’s heart lies an all-new, naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 engine, its mellifluous 1,000 horsepower roar complemented by the near-silent propulsion of electric motors. This mechanical powerhouse generates a combined 1,800 horsepower.

Yet for all its potency, the Tourbillon remains an objet d’art. Its interior exudes a graceful minimalism, with an instrument cluster hand-built by Swiss watchmakers and a glass console exposing the intricacy within. The sinuous exterior shape, meanwhile, artfully integrates form and function, every line optimized for speed. Design influences seem to include the superlative La Voiture Noire one-off and concepts such as the Atlantic and the W16.

When deliveries commence in 2026, just 250 examples of this rolling sculpture will be hand-crafted, with each priced at an ethereal €3.8 million, befitting the Bugatti mystique. The Tourbillon represents the pinnacle of the brand’s 115-year journey, a convergence of beauty, rarity and peerless performance.
