In the charming countryside of Austria, a visionary collaboration has yielded an architectural marvel—the new Floating House by renowned designer Studio F.A. Porsche for premium timber construction company Griffner. Unveiled at Griffner’s headquarters in Griffen, the two-story prefabricated home brings together Porsche’s iconic style with Griffner’s master craftsmanship.

Encased in eye-catching black glass tiles, the lower level appears to float above the landscape, while continuous facade bands on the second story add striking visual interest. With a ceiling height up to 19 feet, the light-filled interior features floor-to-ceiling windows seamlessly set into the walls for an unbroken connection with nature. A free-floating staircase with a sleek glass finish connects the floors.

The Floating House showcases only the finest sustainable materials—wood and glass crafted to perfection. Porsche’s subtle touches, from the 5.6-foot wide entrance door to integrated lighting and bathroom fixtures, elevate the home. A dedicated billiards room nods to luxury.

For Porsche, it’s a first foray into home design. As Tobias Hüttl, Design Director, stated, “Design is never just aesthetics, but above all content.” The modular layout allows for customization, while retaining Porsche’s signature minimalist aesthetic.

The prefabrication process pioneered by Griffner enables rapid construction. Parts are built with precision in their factory, and the shell completed in just two weeks. The home is move-in ready in five to seven months. Griffner has perfected building sustainability utilizing wood.

Starting at 1,937 sq. ft., the exclusive Floating House is available in various configurations. With Porsche’s name attached, it should hold value for decades to come.
