BMW has unveiled an exciting glimpse into the future of electric SUVs with the Vision Neue Klasse X concept. The raised crossover utilizes the new Neue Klasse architecture that will underpin BMW’s next generation of EVs starting in 2025.
At first glance, the Vision X’s exterior design combines a minimalist aesthetic with classic BMW proportions. Flush surfaces and the striking “Coral Silver” paint job give it a sleek, futuristic look. Vertically oriented LEDs provide a fresh take on BMW’s iconic headlight design. Inside, the cabin features an airy, spacious layout with sustainable materials and ambient lighting integrated into textile surfaces.
According to BMW, the Vision X will deliver a “superior driving experience tailored to individual needs.” New drive and chassis control software, developed in-house, enables more dynamic performance and precision. The latest eDrive technology increases range up to 30% through efficiency gains. Fast charging can add around 180 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Sustainability is also a focus. New round battery cells boost energy density over 20%. The Vision X utilizes plant-based and recycled materials extensively. Parts are designed for easier disassembly and recyclability; even the supply chain and manufacturing process aim to reduce the vehicle’s CO2 footprint.
BMW states the Vision Neue Klasse X showcases the variety of future models enabled by the new architecture—from sporty sedans to modern SUVs. Production of the first X model on the platform will begin in 2025 at the company’s Hungarian plant. With its innovative technology and focus on sustainability, the Vision X provides an exciting glimpse of the electric future ahead for BMW.
