Drawing name inspiration from Italian and Latin roots, Bulgari’s Lucea collection of women’s watches debuted in 2014 as an everyday, yet still glamorous, complement to the brand’s bejeweled Serpenti and Diva collections. To mark the 10th anniversary of Lucea, Bulgari unveils seven redesigned models for 2024, now with curvier cases and bracelets that channel the fluidity of the iconic Serpenti.
Sculpted in steel or steel and rose gold, the new Lucea comes in 33mm and 28mm sizes. The larger model unveils a slimmer 9.16mm case, while the petite 28mm is a dainty 7.72mm. Mechanical hearts beat within the 33mm, granting 42 hours of power reserve. In contrast, the 28mm quartz models forgo seconds hands for a jewelry-inspired simplicity.
Yet despite the pared down size, Bulgari’s jewelry DNA still sparkles throughout Lucea. Gem-set bezels cradle select models, their 40 diamonds mimicking starbursts at midnight. Cabochon sapphire crowns evoke regal signet rings, especially when paired with the collection’s brilliant-cut diamond hour markers.
Most alluring are the mosaic dials rendered in mother-of-pearl intarsio, painstakingly assembled like fine marquetry. But the true showstopper is Lucea’s malachite marquetry dial in earthy green, hand-crafted from Bulgari’s own jewelry fragments.
With its redesigned case and bracelet, the new Lucea collection exudes Bulgari’s trademark blend of Italian jewelry prowess and Swiss watchmaking.
