Winnebago journeys deeper into all-terrain with the new Ekko Sprinter, elevating its signature camper van to lordlier heights. Forgoing the Ford Transit chassis of its trail-blazing sibling, this intrepid overlander now rides on Mercedes bones. The Teutonic foundation brings increased clearance and standard all-terrain tires, enhancing the van’s abilities on rutted roads.

While Winnebago touts the Sprinter’s improved off-road grit, the 24.5-foot sustained length also expands interior volume compared to the Transit-based variant. This creates space for the Ekko’s most compelling transformation—the front lounge metamorphoses into a multi-configurable living area.

By day, facing benches convert the lounge into a comfortable vis-a-vis dining nook with adjustable table. By night, seats flatten into a roomy 30 x 78-inch single bed, combining with the swiveled front chairs to sleep five vagabonds.

The Sprinter’s size further enlarges the gear garage, facilitating transport of recreational paraphernalia. Abundant access points enable convenient equipment loading.

Despite its stretched silhouette, the Ekko Sprinter retains the original’s cleverly designed wet bath. A pivoting wall partitions the toilet and vanity, leaving a separate shower stall for unencumbered ablutions.

The updated galley opts for a portable induction cooker in lieu of the previous fixed stove, bestowing owners flexible cooking options inside or out. With the stove stowed, the counter doubles as an uncluttered workspace.

In the bedroom, flexible single beds convert to a queen with cushion inserts, while a pop-up roof shelters upper bunk slumberers.

Powered by Mercedes’ torque-rich diesel engine and 9-speed transmission, the brawny Sprinter chassis propels this rugged adventurer down dusty backroads. With its cavernous, reconfigurable interior and enhanced traction, the longer Ekko enhances off-grid expeditions.

The joy of the journey starts with the Ekko Sprinter’s $235,738 MSRP. For wanderlusters craving first-class fortitude, this overland shuttle ushers adventure in eminent style.
