With poetic flair, Ferrari unfurls a special-edition 296 GTB Assetto Fiorano bearing nostalgic livery that stirs collective memories of Scuderia Ferrari’s halcyon days in Formula One. Limited to just five units for discerning collectors, this magnificent steed pays homage to the iconic F2004’s decisive 1-2 victory at the 2004 Hungarian Grand Prix, where drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello cemented Ferrari’s sixth consecutive constructors’ world championship.
Ferrari Atelier artisans penned a sublime configuration, swathing the 296 in a trifecta of metallic Rosso F1 tints while Bianco King White accents adorn the bumper intakes, roof, side sills and rear fascia like brushstrokes on a canvas. The number 1 grafted onto the bonnet evokes Ferrari’s supreme reign during this storied era.
Befitting its Assetto Fiorano pedigree, the limited-edition 296 inherits trickled-down racing technology, including carbon fiber components, Multimatic shock absorbers, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires hugging carbon fiber wheels, and four-point harnesses in the cockpit. The Hungaroring track outline and colors of the Hungarian flag embroider the headrests, with carbon fiber side sills announcing this models exalted status.
Under the skin, the electrified powertrain remains untouched; the mid-mounted twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 and electric motor churn out a symphonic 819 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque. Though no price was revealed, all five of these moving artworks have found homes with Hungarian collectors eager to steward a slice of Ferrari history.
