The longtime California home of psychedelic swamp-rocker John Fogerty is one notable new addition to the Los Angeles-area open market this season. Fogerty, who co-founded and led 1960s hit juggernaut Creedence Clearwater Revival before embarking on a successful solo career, is asking $19.995 million for the lavish estate.
Discrete from its neighbors by virtue of its expansive grounds — the property measures in at 21.96 acres from stem to stern — the house is extravagant, but extravagant in suitable ratio to its setting: the gated community of Thousand Oaks. The mansion was completed in 2004.
Fogerty purchased the home in 2013, according to public records; he may or may not have named the place White Stallion Ranch, but he certainly did set about customizing it to taste. The Mediterranean-style’s living areas show off a refined rusticity by way of low-luster-finished hardwood floors and ceiling timber, and a freely expressed indoor/outdoor lifestyle.
As listed, the property offers nine bedrooms and twelve baths across 18,600 sq. ft. of interiors. As a ‘why go anywhere’-type celebrity home, it has an expectedly lavish litany of amenities to divert; inside, a recording studio, a wellness center, a screening room with a starlight ceiling, an atmospheric wet bar, and an in-law or staff apartment top the list; outside, a custom-designed pool with spa, several firepit lounges, a green house, a sports court, and a detached guest house may be found.
Fogerty’s sensibilities have brought climate-specific turf to the property. Additional features include Crestron and security systems.
CCR has sold around 95 million records worldwide—41 million of them in the U.S. The band curiously never had a No. 1 Billboard hit.
