Legendary Italian automotive-industry best-kept secret and EV supercar designer Pininfarina recently announced a very limited new version of its Battista model. The thematic variation, called the Battista Edizione Nino Farina, is a turnkey option for the EV driver with a taste for special editions. Only give examples will see the light of day, and at over $3 million a pop, they represent the priciest offering ever from the esteemed coachbuilder.

The car is a hat tipping within the family. The Farina in the name is Giuseppe, affectionately Nino, who took home the first F1 World Championship title in 1950. That year, Nino Farina also won the honors at the British Grand Prix. Nino was the nephew of company founder Battista, affectionately Pinin, and also the son of Giovanni Farina, who launched another legendary coachbuilder, Stabilimenti Farina, around the turn of the 20th century.

That’s a lot of Italian automotive industry chops, and the newest Pininfarina offering allows them full range of expression; there are decades of competitive and recreational sports driving in even a cursory glance of the course-ready variation. The power transfers over from the Battista; for those who aren’t familiar with the car, it’s a carbon-fiber shell with a 1,900-horsepower electric powertrain underneath. It can snap to 62 MPH in 1.86 seconds, and reach a 217 MPH top speed.

The Edizione Farina has a special livery: a unique shade of red adorns it exterior, with white and blue accents, gold wheels and track body graphics adding a historical dimension to the car. Each example features a custom anodized aluminum passenger door plate bearing a singular design, making all Edizione Farina cars a bit different…and, one might assume, very collectible.
