With its C-8 hydrofoil garnering much attention of late, Swedish recreational electric boat designer Candela is keeping up the momentum with a special edition of the immediately and intensely curiosity-inducing craft.

The new version of the C-8 is called the Polestar Edition, and it draws attention to the quiet partner in the hydrofoil’s design. Domestic EV cousin Polestar helped fund the R&D for the C-8, and contributed a battery pack from its Polestar 2 model to power the hydrofoil.

The C-8’s top speed of 30 knots and cruising speed of 20 knots remain unchanged in the Polestar Edition. The influence of the Swedish electric car manufacturer is evident in the hydrofoil’s design, however; the watercraft’s hull exhibits, to quote the company, a ‘cloud-like lightness.’ The Polestar Edition’s seats are finished with upholstery, and its struts are finished in gold.

The C-8 Polestar Edition will be available in the second quarter of next year. Pricing begins at $450K.
