The large pink postmodern in Brentwood is back. The 2001-built custom Los Angeles home, owned by and built for blockbuster franchise film producer Joel Silver, is currently listed with an asking price of $52 million.
The compound is the work of Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, and it is certainly singular. In the main house, a pastiche of styles accumulates as a tour progresses — modern, industrial, Southwest rustic, to name a few — with materials and colors just as varied. As a preamble: a low-slope exterior entry staircase finished in contrasting shale tiles and a striking circular foyer with a massive skylight, grooved support columns, a glossy inlaid marble floor, and backlit ornamental niches.
Other details at work across the 25,000 sq. ft. of interiors: reclaimed ceiling timber, stone tile floors, plaster walls, multiple staircases and an elevator. A screening room, library, office, sauna, and fitness room comprise a partial list of specialty diversions, while the kitchen, dining room and master get top marks among the home’s fundamentals.
The house sits on 4.56 acres, with a reflecting pool, a hedge maze, and a multi-level outdoor living complex with a large swimming pool at its center representing the more salient lifestyle features.
Silver’s upcoming projects include Road House, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor.
