Chez Cher is up for sale this spring. The iconic pop star listed her longtime retreat in Malibu on the open market for $85 million late last year. The price saw a reduction about two weeks ago; she’s currently asking $75 million for the property she’s called home for nearly three decades.

The custom-built bluff-top estate was apparently years in the making. The architectural style calls upon Italian, Moroccan and Indian designs for inspiration, with Italian elements appearing to be represented above all others.

Details at work in the villa include varied arches, Solomonic columns, Moroccan lanterns, timber ceilings, coffered ceilings, a copper ceiling or two, fireplaces, Venetian plaster, and hardwood, tile and stone floors. According to the listing, materials used to express the house’s living style — limestone, marble, hardware and tiles — were sourced from Spain, Italy, France and Morocco. Occasionally Islamic and occasionally Gothic, the interiors are by turns devotional and decadent.

The master bedroom might well convince a morning riser that they are, indeed, in Tangiers. It transitions to a private, semi-detached sitting room overlooking the ocean. There are seven bedrooms and eight baths on the estate in all. The property’s grounds measure 1.73 acres, with an infinity pool, a heated spa, a tennis court, a covered patio, and a courtyard with an octagram water feature as a centerpiece standing as highlights. The estate is guarded by a gate house.
