The Los Angeles estate of VistaJet founder Thomas Flohr has been relisted with a substantial price chop. The Swiss-born billionaire businessman initially put the six-bed, nine-bath property up for sale in the spring of last year, tagged at $63.5 million; a month or so later, the property’s ask was dropped to $58 million. The new listing price is $49.995 million.

The 2011-built modern-style mansion in Holmby Hills contains 15,000 sq. ft. across two levels. Its exterior has a lot to say; the complex narrative includes a great deal of glass, rusticated limestone, exposed steel, balconies, and intersecting planes. Its interiors begin beyond a pivoting front door, with a soaring foyer establishing a potent sense of light and space that follows through as the home develops.

There’s a great deal of surface emphasis in this house — it’s flashy, to be sure. There’s lightly finished hardwood throughout which, combined with the rough limestone, brings a welcome note of rusticity and history to the design; the plank floors are walnut. The home’s staircase is a gem, a sculpted, floating installation with feminine lines that rises to a similarly windswept portal in the upper floor; it almost positively qualifies as a particularly artistic example of craftsmanship.

A kitchen with Japandi inspiration and recessed shelving, a steam room finished in brilliantly figured bookmatched stone, and multiple linear fireplaces are other design elements at work here. A voluminous primary suite, zero-edge pool, Provence-style gardens, hardwood deck, and 5,000 sq. ft. landscaped rooftop terrace with panoramic views put the finishing touches on the lifestyle.
