Baby Phat’s Kimora Lee Simmons listed her longtime home in the Los Angeles area recently. Asking $22.995 million, the appealing property in Beverly Hills is presided over by a Mediterranean-inflected house of approximately 10,000 sq. ft. There are seven bedrooms and nine baths across the estate.

A lot of romance is packed effortlessly into the lot’s tree-bordered .84 acres. The backyard is populated by a pool, a two-bedroom guest house and — separated by the pool by a hedge wall — a romantic hedgerow, grass and topiary garden primarily accessible via stone steps.

The main house appears to aspire to the palatial at its main entrance, where a looming neoclassical portico supported by a quartet of Doric columns leads to a glassy complex of double doors with iron insets, multi-pane windows capped with fanlights, and a large transom; the foyer follows suit, with an inlaid glossy stone tile floor, an ornate staircase, and a fairly restrained chandelier hanging down from a frosted upper-level skylight begins the living style as bright and comfortably expansive.

Details accumulate during a tour, and include milled molding and fireplaces, hardwood paneling, herringbone-pattern oak and coffered ceilings with custom millwork. The kitchen is a flowery affair, and will excite those enamored of faux-French flourishes of the baroque variety; it is joined by a very bright dayroom, just the thing for croissants and café noir in the A.M.

The master is as fully developed as one might expect; it opens via French doors to the outdoor recreation area and its covered and uncovered living spaces.

According to public records, Simmons has owned the property since 2008. Baby Phat launched about ten years before.
