Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have given their most recent Montecito flip a price snip this season. The duo put the house up for sale this spring with an asking price of $5.995 million; the recent reduction leaves it at $5.85 million.

The couple’s feverish buy-renovate-sell-repeat hijinks frequently lead them to extraordinary residential examples in the Mediterranean-like environs of the crown jewel of Santa Barbara County. The list of past flips includes the Moorish-tinged contemporary they picked up last winter for $22 million, as well as Rancho San Leandro, which they owned, sold, and owned again, and Dennis Miller’s one-time compound, which they sold about a year ago for $55 million.

The property in question is a bit more modest, but not lacking in character. A restored three-bedroom dating to 1915, it features four baths across 2,280 sq. ft. of interiors, and a U-shaped design that places a semi-enclosed deck at the front of the home.

Inside the house, highlights include a living room with a fireplace and two exterior walls of sliding windows, a dining room with a threshold decorated with Doric columns and a plank-finished hipped ceiling (which is reprised in the ebulliently cottagey master bedroom), and a charming galley kitchen. Details include original milled ceiling panels and narrow-plank oak.

Beyond the front deck, the outdoor living spaces of this home include a private sitting area with a water feature; the intimate niche is separated from an al fresco spot by a lattice wall and gates, and enhanced by tropical landscaping.
