Earlier this fall, we had a look at the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance, a new hybrid sport sedan packing, the automaker’s press release crowed, the most powerful four-cylinder engine in the world, a newly designed 2.0L turbo. The model also brought Formula 1 tech to bear on the consumer performance car, using the two-speed electric motor as support for the efficient gas-burner, eliminating turbo lag via the immediate response of an electric.
To put a finer point on the latter matter, Mercedes-AMG recently announced a special ‘F1 Edition’ of the C63 S E Performance. The cosmetically enhanced variant is actually a C-Class sedan or wagon body style, with additional performance trimmings of course; the combination makes it a cake-and-eat-it-too proposition. This is particularly true of the C63 S E Performance F1 Edition wagon, though that particular body style likely won’t make it stateside.
The limited variants come in a special, Manufaktur-designed shade of grey with red trim stripes, and feature special identifying badging, the whole reminiscent of the Mercedes-AMG Official FIA F1 Medical Car. The F1 Edition examples are shod in matte-black 20-inch, 5-spoke AMG forged wheels, and come with the otherwise-optional AMG Aerodynamics Package and both AMG Night Packages. Inside, nappa leather, Dinamica and carbon trim in a red-on-black color scheme carries the day.
Mercedes-AMG will make the C63 S E Performance F1 Edition for one year once sales begin.
