Video Game Tycoon Jon Burton Seeking $110M for Malibu Estate After Price Cut

A mid-1970s idealized Spanish-style estate in Malibu appeared on the open market recently courtesy of video game whiz Jon Burton, whose prolific company developed titles for Sega, Disney, and Lego. According to Dirt, Burton has recently reduced the price of his expansive clifftop estate from $125 million to $110 million.

And expansive it is, truth be told. The eight-bed, eleven-bath property’s grounds measure in at 6.71 acres, a whopping great buffer zone for this neck of the woods, enough space to transform the mundane task of arriving home into a romantic travel log of gated drive, gated courtyard entry, and gated loggia with hexagonal terra-cotta tile floor before one arrives in the hacienda-inspired main house. A large lawn on the landward side is punctuated by a large swimming pool.

The interiors reach their apex in the double-height great room, a cavernous space which is warmed by a fireplace accent wall with a raised hearth that’s proportioned in spot-on ratio to the volume; a catwalk passes a second-floor window series for ocean views between points A and B. Effusive details are certainly not a feature of this home’s living styles, however, and a cypherish quality prevails which a few works of art will certainly nix.

The grounds continue on the ocean side with a tiered progression of Pacific-view patios connected by staircases, a far-flung spa, and a series of walking paths traversing gardens and specimen landscaping.
