Bentley’s electric powertrain designs are proliferating. For 2023, the Bentayga S and Bentayga Azure are being offered with hybrid powertrains.

The news isn’t earth-shattering — the electric contributions to the variants’ energy production remain token — but it does show that this most traditional of automakers, stodgy at best when it comes to fundamental change, is moving in the right direction. Bentley has forecast its first fully electric passenger vehicle for the 2025 model year, right around the corner.

Right now, the most recent additions to the hybrid camp are the S and Azure trim levels for the Bentayga: buyers of the variants will be able to trade out a V8 for a V6 supported by an electric motor. And, for 2023, the electric motor is more efficient, delivering 134 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque on its lonesome.

The all-electric range of the variants improves to 27 miles for 2023.
