The larger Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home that hit the market in Wisconsin last month has closed. The Usonian-style property had fetched $1.025 million when the dust settled; it had been offered at $725K.

Usonian homes, functional art for the masses, generally contain three or four bedrooms and perhaps 2,200-3,500 sq. ft. of interiors. This one has six bedrooms and seven baths in 4,978 sq. ft. Its architecture is rather dynamic, with triangular flourishes and angularity bringing a sense of motion to the living style.

The sense of space conjured in this home is extraordinary; the fireplace is an open design which emphasizes the room to roam indoors, and a transitional covered section of the great room incorporates the garden landscaping, incorporating the natural world into the living style directly. Long corridors, inside and out, are additional evocations of distance designed into the property.
