Maserati, looking ahead to the 2024 model year, has granted the world a sneak preview of its new GranTurismo model, the next chapter in a narrative that began in the late 1940s.

In launching into this new chapter, Maserati has divided the trim designations according to powertrain options. The GranTurismo is appearing on the cusp of a major shift in powertrain design, and the model is so aptly representative of the change because the transition is designed into it.

At the end of the day it’s a long-nosed fastback with classically delicious lines, however the Folgore, Trofeo and entry-level Modena offer drivers three variations on the theme. The GranTurismo Folgore is the next-generation powertrain entry, a 760-horsepower fully electric car with a powertrain founded on an 800-volt architecture inspired by Formula F designs; the battery pack is designed in a ‘T-Bone’ shape for optimal placement in the overall design. The Modena gets 490 horsepower from the series’ 3.0L V6, while the Trofeo ups the ante to 550.

All GranTurismo cars are built with lightweight materials like magnesium and aluminum, as well as Atlantis electrical architecture, and feature a central ‘Vehicle Domain Control Module’ that appears to align the car’s essential systems for improved performance. Inside the cabin is Maserati’s Intelligent Assistant, newly developed infotainment, a touchscreen, and optional head-up display. The Sonus Faber audio extends to the exhaust, so Folgore owners can have their cake and hear it, too.
