For the 2023 model year, the Lamborghini Urus will be no more. It will be supplanted as a base model by a tuned-up version of the SUV: the Urus S. For Urus buyers, the logic is ‘in for a penny, in for a pound,’ and it’s right on the money.

The lineup adjustment sustains the number of Urus family members at a manageable two, with the Urus Performante variant taking the top slot. It also puts the Urus S and Urus Performante on level ground in relation to horsepower: both rate at 657. The Urus S can make the 0-62 MPH jump in 3.5 seconds, and reach a top speed of nearly 190.

What the 2023 Urus S gains over the outgoing Urus is a retuned exhaust — with adjusted soundtrack — as well as adaptive air suspension. It looks more aggressively fluid, with a new front bumper with a matte-black stainless skidplate, new carbon fiber components including a new bonnet. A naked carbon fiber roof can be optioned.

Added to the Urus S’s Strada, Sport, Corsa and Ego street modes are off-road modes Terra, Neve and Sabbia. Cosmetic options have been broadened considerably, Lamborghini says, with trim and color options increased, and comprehensive style packages available. The Urus S rides on 21-inch wheels, with 22-inch titanium-finished Nath rims and 23-inch Taigete wheels in bronze or diamond finish available.

Lamborghini hasn’t revealed U.S. pricing for the 2023 Urus S at this time. In Europe, the new baseline Urus will come with a base sticker of €195,538, which converts to about $190K at the present rate.
