German tuning firm Brabus has tackled a few Maybach models over the years. In 2017, the company introduced a comprehensive kit for the S 650, and more recently developed packages for the GLS, with an 800-level appearing in 2021, and a 900-level following in the spring of this year.

This fall, Brabus announced a package for the Maybach S 580 executive sedan. Before the V12-powered S 680 came along last year, the S 580 was the only sedan in the Maybach catalog; the S 650 and S 560 which had originally formed the marque’s ne plus ultra executive triumvirate as of the 2014 brand revival were dropped for the 2021 model year. However, unlike Mansory’s Maybach S-Class tuning package, Brabus’ is specific to the S 580, and cannot be adapted to the S 680.

The executive sedan remains a Maybach essential, and so the S 580 makes an ideal foundation for a luxury tuning job; the Brabus version, which is called the ‘600’ and referred to repeatedly as a limousine in the company’s marketing, could become a staple of corporate prestige. Like the Maybach sedan, the Brabus treatment is a pinnacle: the ‘Masterpiece’ level is the most extravagant of the company’s offerings…and also among the quickest: the tuned S 580 has a 0-62 time of 4.5 seconds.

For the 600, Brabus managed to eke more than 100 additional horsepower out of the Maybach’s 4.0L V8 biturbo; the car has 600 HP to boast of instead of 496. Torque has been boosted from 516 pound-feet to 590. Brabus traded out the native exhaust for a high-performance stainless system—with sound management—and switched out the wheels for 22-inch Monoblock M ‘Platinum Edition’ forged units. The requisite carbon fiber panels and components included in the 600 build include spoiler and fascia inserts in front, and diffuser in back.

Inside the 600 is a cosmetic concept designed around the color turquoise, with leather given ‘Seashell Diamond’ quilting (scalloped, and reminiscent of Art Deco) as well as executive-level rear cabin area with ventilated, heated, multi-contour memory seats. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and Alcantara trim enhance the luxurious look and feel of the 600 experience.

Brabus has priced the 600 at €342,617, or about $335K at current rates. In comparison, the 2022 Maybach S 580 base stickers at about $185K.
