Airtable co-founder and CEO Howie Liu put down $31 million worth of roots in Beverly Hills this year, according to Dirt. The acquisition is in keeping with Airtable’s rapid adoption by high-profile companies; the platform is in the process of becoming a tech staple.
As for the residence recently purchased by Liu, it was recently overhauled when it closed in May. The foundation of the heavily renovated structure is a 1935-built house, but the changes have been comprehensive enough to alter the original home’s architectural identity completely. As it stands, the home contains six bedrooms and eight baths across three levels and 11,106 sq. ft.
Interior details include a knockout checkerboard tile floor that commands the eye in the foyer; the staircase is a gem, too, a tight and fairly steep curvature with russet-stained hardwood with a rod balustrade and a handrail that appears to be bronze that climbs toward an opaque ceiling dome. A fireplace parlor opens up on the right, while an arched transition leads to the dining and living rooms and kitchen.
Steel-framed French doors and windows can be spotted throughout the home, including in the dayroom, which opens generously to the patio. Lighting atmospherics also come into play in the kitchen and family room — LED-backlit tray ceilings run throughout — while the wet bar’s nightspot look is carefully composed of cobalt blue lacquer, a gem-like pendant extending from a barrel ceiling, and an LED strip at floor level.
As for creature comforts, the master has a wealth to its credit. A spa room, a wet bar finished in glossy mahogany, a fireplace bedroom, two terraces, dressing rooms, an outdoor soaking tub as an option for the indoor unit, and an office. Elsewhere in and around the home are a theater, Pilates studio, guest apartment, and outdoor living area with two fireplaces, a fire pit, a pool, half a dozen terraces, and a living area enhanced by a pergola partially occupied by a troupe of riotous vines.
Liu founded Airtable in 2012. The tech company, which specializes in collaboration in the cloud, has a valuation north of $10 billion.
