After roughly eighteen months for sale on the open market — and numerous price snips — the two-acre, 10,277 sq. ft. Pasadena estate of television personality Erica Jayne has sold. Jayne put the 1928-vintage house up for sale in the spring of 2021, hoping for an offer in the neighborhood of $13 million. In the end, it was an offer of $7.5 million that did the trick.

The house is an engaging curiosity, with more than one genuine surprise waiting inside and an array of splendid period details besides. In the former camp, the prayer room certainly qualifies; in the latter camp the list includes coffered ceilings, stained glass roundel windows, wood paneling, parquet oak, original light fixtures and beamed ceilings.

The traditional elements are frequently observed both in the interiors and across the grounds. There’s panoramic wall covering in the dining room, a classic touch, while the property exterior includes a long tiered patio with a Mediterranean stone balustrade. It’s a long, narrow lot, and the acreage is filled out with a rill descending to a swimming pool amid lush landscaping.

Jayne had an easier time selling her La Quinta golf escape. That property hit the open market early last fall, and was gone again in about a month. It sold, at ask, for $1.3 million.
