Land Rover brought an expression of geographical homage to this year’s Monterey Car Week. The Range Rover variant is called the SV Carmel Edition, and it is designed with an eye cast toward Carmel-by-the-Sea, the crown jewel of the Monterey Peninsula.

The city is a mission-town-turned-artist’s-community-turned-jet-set-destination where actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood once played mayor. Eastwood still hangs his flat-brimmed hat and polishes his American Songbook in the picturesque burg, at least part-time.

Although the SV Carmel Edition is more suggestive than a four-wheeled love letter to Carmel — interior accents are not in native driftwood gathered from Monastery Beach, unfortunately — the Range Rover SV Carmel Edition does boast an exterior in Satin Bronze, which the design team found evocative of the local coastline. Also featured: 23-inch Diamond Turned wheels with Satin Bronze inserts, and an interior color scheme with Liberty Blue and Caraway leather seat upholstery. The SV Carmel Edition is powered by the automaker’s 523-horsepower V8 biturbo.

The variant’s layout uses the SV Signature Suite, which includes an electronically-deploying Club Table incorporated into the console, and seating for four, which allows abundant room per person. A set of special Dartington Crystal glasses are included with the SV Carmel Edition.

Land Rover will produce 17 examples of the Range Rover SV Carmel Edition. It is priced from $345,000, exclusive of destination and other fees.
