Louis Vuitton’s newest watch harkens back to its first Tambour model. A birthday celebration watch that honors two decades of watchmaking, the timepiece—called the Tambour Twenty—is a wildly sophisticated bit of functional wrist-wear that neatly bridges the years and encapsulates the history of one of the French fashion house’s most enduring watches.
The Tambour Twenty features a 41.5mm case in stainless, very similar to the original Tambour. The chrome-finished flared body is finished with a brown dial and yellow chronograph and second hands. The Twenty’s movement is the LV277, which uses the Zenith El Primero automatic chronograph movement as a design foundation. The LV277’s rotor is fabricated from 22-carat gold.
The Tambour Twenty features a 50-hour power reserve. It is priced at $17,800. LV will make 200 examples, each housed in a vintage-style Vuitton trunk.
Brand ambassador Bradley Cooper lends a little star power to the occasion.
